The invention relates to a process for manufacturing granules of a washing or cleaning agent from a mixture of at least partially solid, one-piece ingredient. In order to manufacture uniform, relatively small granules very cheaply, plasticizers and/or slip additives are added to the mixture, the moulding material so obtained is forced under a pressure of at least 25 bar by an extruder through a plurality of holes whose diameter in the inlet side region is less than that in the outlet side region, the length to diameter ratio in the inlet side region being between 1.5 and 6 in the outlet side region between 0.3 and 2, and the extruded strands are cut transversely into predetermined lengths immediately after the outlet.
