Modular valves simultaneously closing biological reaction vessels - are actuated by fluid-loaded flexible membranes

A series of vessels (2a) for chemical, biochemical, or biological molecular reactions, and wherein some of the prods. are retained, are individually opened and closed by the valve elements (11) assembled into a module. Each modular valve includes an electric membrane (24) against whose one face is the open side of a control dome (18a), subject to pneumatic or hydraulic pressure or to a suction source and coupled to discharge conduits (16a,16b) against the other face of the dome. The domes are all linked by a common control conduit (12) for at least one reaction vessel. Modules at the end of a sequence are of modified structure, and the module container is assembled on a frame, or on tie-bars with screwed ends. ADVANTAGE - Suitable for simultaneous phase synthesis of polymeric bio-molecules with valves operated from exterior, e.g. in automatic laboratory robots.
