Each vertical side of the lifting mechanism is provided by a vertical section (8,9) of a cable drive (1,2), with each drive looped over a separate drive pulley (12,13). The drive pulleys are coupled by meshing gear wheels and one pulley is directly coupled to the drive motor. The other parts of the cable drives have fixed position guide pulleys. The vertical cable sections run in slotted guides, up which the window support slide. To provide a lift and tilt action one cable drive moves at a different speed to the other. This is achieved by having different diameter drive pulleys, or with different numbers of gear teeth on the two meshing gears. ADVANTAGE - Simple drive mechanism, no risk of damaging cable drives. |
