The clamping device for securing a conveyor belt has a pair of clamping cross bars wherein the upper cross bar (4) and/or the lower cross-bar (4) support on the side of the conveyor belt a metal bending line compensator which is connected directly to the associated clamping cross bar and impinges directly with its clamping face (8) on the conveyor belt (1). In the clamping state of the belt the clamping face runs parallel to the counter face (8) on the opposite bending line compensator (7) or on the opposite clamping cross bar (4).
