A laser diode pumped solid state laser has a resonator (10) with a pair of mirrors (12) have coupling holes (12a). By suitable selection of the mirror parameters there will be a multiple reflection from the pair, that result in different reflected resonator modes (14a). At the centre of the multi-reflection cell is a laser crystal (17) that has pumping diodes (16) located around it. ADVANTAGE - Divides resonator into large number of different volumes.
