A CNC-controlled chamfering device for plate-shaped workpieces contains a stamp (13) driven by control elements and a thickness measurement device (11) which is movable along the circumference of the workpiece (15) at different distances from it. The thickness measurement device is connected to a computer in a device for controlling the control elements. The measurement device can be operated by hand. It is tongs-shaped and has an insertion aperture (15) with a variable stop (16) for the workpiece to be measured.
