Appts. consists of steam pipe and perforated nozzle, water pipe and cylinder with conical ends, and discharge pipe. There is annular gap between steam nozzle and water cylinder, and size of this gap can be adjusted. Gauges indicate pressure in cylinder and in discharge pipe. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for chemical processes in which heating needs are frequently varied. Heating can be varied without throttling of steam. Condensation occurs without 'hammer' in pipework.
