In a television transmitter having separate picture - and sync-modulated r.f. amplification (57 and 58), the sync-modulated r.f. signal is derived from the picture-modulated signal using a modulator (40) controlled by the video sync signal (42) conventionally present in the transmitter. This simplifies the construction of the transmitter, and is particularly applicable to solid-state amplifier transmitters.
