<p>The present invention relates to display on dot matrix screens and, in particular, on liquid crystal screens. Characters are stored in a character memory (2) in the form of points to be excited on a given surface of a screen (1) in order to display characters thereon. On the basis of a display to be produced on the screen (1) the character addresses to be displayed are stored in a code memory (3, 3') in positions in one-to-one relation with the positions to be given to these characters on the screen; the contents of the code memory make it possible to read, in the character memory, the desired characters and to display them on the screen.
