<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of BOD components under anaerobic conditions and permit a full denitrification reaction to take place under anaerobic conditions by providing an air diffusing device in a waster liquor circulating passage, a receiving means for the reception of a carrier supporting nitrification bacteria and an intermediate inflow opening of the circulating passage for the waste liquor and the sludge being sent back. CONSTITUTION:Putrescribe waster liquors are mixed with the activated sludge remaining in a water circulating passage 12, the zones 13A and 13B of the water circulating passage 12 are retained in anaerobic conditions and denitrification bacteria are circulated through the water circulating passage 12, whereby nitrogen components in the mixed liquors are denitrified in the anaerobic zone 13A. In a nitrification unit 14A, an aerobic zone is produced by aeration air and the nitrogen components are nitrified by the action of nitrification bacterium pellets 23. By this treatment method, a carrier supporting the nitrification bacteria is received in the aerobic zone of the water circulating passage to permit the consumption of BOD components to be controlled and the required amt. of BOD components to be supplied into the anaerobic zone and, therefore, a full denitrification treatment can be effected.</p> |
