PURPOSE:To attain strong bonding between an unvulcanized rubber compounded material and fibers, by firstly treating the fibers with a specific epoxy compound, fast sticking the fibers to the unvulcanized rubber compounded material containing an organic peroxide and a phenolic resin modified with a specific compound and vulcanizing. CONSTITUTION:Cords comprising any of all fibers such as natural, regenerated, synthetic or carbon fibers, useful for bonding to rubber are firstly treated with an epoxy compound containing two ore more epoxy groups in the molecule, fast stuck to an unvulcanized rubber compounded material sheet containing >=0.0005mol. (based on 100g rubber) organic peroxide (e.g., di-t-butyl peroxide) and >=0.5pt.wt. (based on 100pts.wt. rubber) phenolic resin modified with one compound selected from cardol, anacarcid acid, cardanol, etc. and the rubber is vulcanized. By this method, strong adhesion to fibers can be realized and attained even in ethylene propylene copolymer rubber particularly not containing a polar group. |
