PURPOSE:To edit a graphic expression program by allowing an editor to retrieve an abbreviation dictionary while using an abbreviation, input its corresponding graphic code to the graphic expression program and retrieve a control conversion file to know control level automatic formation information. CONSTITUTION:A user inputs an abbreviation from an I/O device 3. The editor 2 retrieves an abbreviation dictionary table 41 while using the inputted abbreviation. Based upon the retrieved result, the editor 2 inputs a graphic code corresponding to the abbreviation to the graphic expression program 8 and extracts an OP code corresponding to the abbreviation. The graphic code out of the graphic code and OP code obtained as a retrieved result is displayed on a prescribed position of a program forming screen according to a YPS file. Then, the editor 2 retrieves a control conversion table 51 while using the OP code. The editor 2 obtains control level automatic formation information corresponding to the OP code as the retrieved result. The editor 2 automatically forms the control level based upon the control level automatic formation information and inputs a control level line to the program 8 based upon the formed control level.
