CONSTITUTION: An electric power conversion element SR1 performs commutation with an electric power source and has thyristors T1 to T6 in a bridge branch. On a DC side, electric power conversion elements SR2, SR3 are connected to the DC voltage output side of the conversion element SR1 through a DC voltage intermediate circuit, and on an AC side, those elements are connected to an AC power source or an inverter electric power source or a continent electric power source through AC converters 7, 8 and electric power source transformers TR2, TR3. An electric power converter, comprising a rectifier SR1, DC voltage intermediate circuits 3 to 6, performs a high voltage - DC conversion.
