A device for fastening a clasp 6 adjustably along a first strap 4 which is fixed in a helmet has an adjusting piece 7 having two openings through which the first strap 4 extends with mutually angled strands. The strands have a double-folded section, which extends through an opening 5 in the clasp 6. The adjusting piece has a hinged arm and a locking member 14 at the free end.
