PICTURE CODING SYSTEM

摘要

PURPOSE:To make the code quantity constant regardless of a picture by revising a quantization step number so as to approach a code quantity to an object after coding is implemented so that the code quantity is smaller than the object value and applying the coding by a step number to be revised till the code quantity reaches the object value. CONSTITUTION:When all blocks of an original picture are stored in a reproduced picture storage means 34, a picture element in each block in a frame memory 1 and a picture element in each relevant block in the reproduced picture storage means 34 are compared by a comparator 5 and a coding control means 6 obtains how much error exists in the reproduced picture with respect to the original picture. The coding control means 6 uses a control signal C2 to revise a step number of a quantization means 23 so as to increase the code quantity stored in an output buffer 25 and each sequenced block is read sequentially from a larger error by the control signal C1 to apply coding again and the code in the output buffer 25 corresponding to the coded block replaces the code already stored.
