PURPOSE:To reduce the trouble to replace a glow plug and improve economical efficiency by providing a heat conducting means connecting the sheath section of the glow plug and the wall section of a cylinder head. CONSTITUTION:A heat conducting ring 14 made of a metal material with excellent heat resistance and heat conductivity is outwardly coupled on the outer periphery of the sheath section 13 of a glow plug 11 and put into contact with the peripheral wall of a cylinder head 2. When the heating wire of the glow plug 11 is excited immediately before an engine is started and the sheath section 13 is heated hot, heat is released from the sheath section 13 to the wall face of the cylinder head 2 with the temperature lower than that of the sheath section 13 via the heat conducting ring 14 outwardly coupled on the sheath section 13. The sheath section 13 in the hot-heated state is cooled, and the inner temperature is lowered not to damage the heating wire. The frequency that the heating wire is broken is reduced, the trouble to replace the glow plug 11 is decreased, and economical efficiency is improved.
