The Y-cable includes: - a first four-conductor cable (5), fitted at its two ends, respectively, with two male connectors (3, 9) which can be plugged respectively into female connectors integrated respectively into the plinth (1) and into the handset (2), so as to replace the original cable; - a take-off connector (6), interposed on the first cable (5), and including insulation-displacing contacts; - a second cable (7) including two conductors, intended to be connected, at one end, to an additional earpiece (8); and which is connected, at its other end, to contacts of the take-off connector (6). Application to adding an additional earpiece to a telephone instrument which has no provision for including one. <IMAGE>
