The dampers of the suspension are fitted with damping valves either integral to the damper, or external to it. The damping cross-section is varied by a processor control with a programmed reaction to the dynamic changes in the damping pistons. Sensors monitor the displacement of each piston and adjust the damping accordingly. The active suspension is controlled by the processor. The effective damping force required to control the displacement is computed and translated into cross-sections for the flow control valves.
