The connector comprises cooperating plug and socket halves (33,34) coupled together via a screw coupling between the socket (34) and a rotatable sleeve (19) fitted to the plug (33). A locking system between the plug (33) and the sleeve (19) holds the plug (33) in a given angular position for obtaining the connection between the corresp. plug and socket contacts. Pref. the locking system uses a pair of axial ribs (12,13) defining a slot around the outside of the plug (33) cooperating with a projection in the inside surface of the sleeve (19).
