The screened HV cable has at least one conductor (1) which is enclosed by a screening layer (5,6), in turn enclosed by an outer screening layer, with both screening layers in direct contact with one another. Pref. the conductor (1) is enclosed by HV insulation (4) enclosed between two conductive sheaths (2,3), the outer sheath (3) enclosed by 2 mesh screening bands, forming the initial screening bands, forming the initial screening layer. Both bands are pref. made of metals with a small frictional resistance relative to one another. ADVANTAGE - Conductive resistance of screening remains constant over long-term use.
