Metal salts of 2,2-dimethylolproprionic acid of general formula (I): [CH3-C(CH2OH)2-COO<->]2 M<2+>, where M is a metal from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium and zinc, are suitable for stabilizing thermoplastics, in particular PVC-based thermoplastics. They are particularly suitable for Ca/Zn-stabilized PVC materials.
