Ozone-carrying soln. for sterilisation purposes or a wide range of prod. processes is made by applying rectangular AC pulses, sepd. by gaps, to each of one or more pairs of electrodes (2,2') sepd. from each other in the body of soln. At least one side of the electrodes is made of thin strip such strip may be interconnected to form flat netting surfaces sepd. from each other by 0.01-2 mm. Electrodes are mounted on a porous substrate (5), or may be sepd. by insulators (15). Alternative electrolytes to water include H2SO4, HBF4, H3PO4 or other liq. with higher electrical conductivity. ADVANTAGE - Ozone is formed by molecular dissociation in small bubles, and requires no blower or other bubble forming device.
