The guide for a sun awning comprises one or more rails (4) with lengthwise grooves (28, 29) in which supporting members for the awning cloth travel, while holders (5) with stems (14) secure the rails to the building. The rail has a C-section groove (32) with undercut edges (33), by which it is secured to each holder. The latter has a mating extension (16), with means for expanding it at right angles to the groove edges. ADVANTAGE - Easy fitting of holder to rail at any point, no machining of the rail being necessary.
