An acceleration switch for sensing certain positive or negative accelerations which exceed a given limit value, in particular for safety devices in motor vehicles, has a housing (1) containing a switch which is actuated and automatically returned to its initial position by an inert mass. The inert mass is designed as an at least partly magnetizable switch pendulum (4) which in the rest position is acted on by the force of attraction of a permanent magnet.
