The automatic central coupling is usable with a coupling head or a towing hook as desired, being mounted via universal joint on the vehicle or bogie frame. It has a buffer unit at the vehicle end. This unit is preceded by a two-pin hinge, by which the head (17) in front can be swung upwards or downwards after removal of one of the pins (15, 16). A towing hook is fixed to the part of the coupling rod after the hinge, and extends in front of the latter into the opening of the connecting fork (14) on the coupling head. USE/ADVANTAGE - Easy movement of coupling head into and out of working position.
