Automatic tool-changing mechanism - has chuck turned by pin active against ramp to align dogs with tool

The tool-changing mechanism is particularly for a numerically-controlled machine tool. The geometrical position of the drive housing is numerically-controlled, and it has a tool-driving spindle with quick-change chuck. The latter has driving dogs for the tool, and a sliding sleeve locking the latter. The chuck (4) has a guide ramp (15) on the outside, and against which a setting pin (20), sliding axially out of the housing (1), acts. This causes the chuck to turn, bringing its dogs (10) into line with the mating recesses (11) in the tool (5). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplicity, allowing automatic operation of a conventional quick-change chuck.
