Mug glazing - has support for clamped mug to turn through 180 deg. to spray fluid glaze inside and outside

To apply a glazing to mugs, and similar open vessels, each mug is placed on a support with the opening upwards and is held by a clamp. The support, and the clamped mug, is turned through 180 deg. and the interior and exterior of the mug is temporarily drenched in a fluid glazing. The support and mug are immediately turned through a further 180 deg., with the opening upwards, and the clamp is released. After a short swell time, the glaze-coated mug is removed from the support and dried. Pref. the mug is carried horizontally for a short stretch between clamping and the application of the glazing. The mug, coated with glazing, is transferred to a conveyor belt which, at its lower level, passes along an angled scraper bar. At least one support (1) holds the mug (8) with a clamp, (5), which can rotate through 180 deg. between upper and lowr glazing spray jets (9,10). The support (1) is plate shaped and rotates on a central axis, or it is formed by two V-shaped straps. The clamp moves at right angles to the support (1) in a nipper action. Several support (1) are assembled on a carrier which can be a rotating table. A conveyor belt follows the support location, with an angled plastics scraper bar with at least one foam rubber scraping layer. ADVANTAGE - The glazing layer is applied rapidly and at low cost.
