The invention relates to a welding apparatus having an electrically heatable heating mirror for the welding of workpieces of plastic. The welding apparatus is designed in such a way that the press plates receiving the workpieces and welding them after heating are held on columns passing through them and are displaceably guided. The welding mirror is in each case arranged rotatably about one of the columns. This produces a simplified design of the welding apparatus, in particular a modular design, which has furthermore the advantage that there is free selection between a horizontal and a vertical version and the accessibility of the apparatus is considerably improved.
