An ink comprises a recording agent and a liquid medium capable of dissolving or dispersing the recording agent. wherein said ink comprises from 0.1 % to 10 % by weight of a water-soluble dye, from 75 % to 95 % by weight of water and from 4 % to 20 % by weight of a mixture of 1,2,6-hexanetriol and an addition polymer of ethylene oxide. eg. triethylene glycol and tetraethylene glycol.
