PURPOSE: To surely and timely carrty out restraint for a passenger by generating a jerk signal having a value which varies with a change rate of a vehicle deceleration signal, and by actuating a passenger restraint system when the jerk signal exceeds a prescribed threshold value. CONSTITUTION: In an evaluation circuit 14 determining generation of collision to trigger an air bag 10 by an ignition circuit 12, a sensing element 16 such as accelerometer is provided to generate an electric signal having a value which vayies with a vehicle deceleration value, and an output signal thereof is input to a comparator 30 and a differentiator 36 via an amplifier 24 and an LPF 26. A timer 46 is actuated by an output of the comparator 30 when the minimum threshold value is exceeded, and an output signal of the timer 46 is inverted in an inverter 48 to be input to an AND gate 44. When a differential signal from the differentiator 36 exceeds the threshold of a precribed jerk, a trigger signal is generated from the AND gate 44 by an output signal of a comparator 38 and a signal through the inverter 48, so as to actuate the ignition circuit 12. |
