APPARATUS FOR SHIFTING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To simplify a link structure to reduce occurrence of excessive play by fixing a check holder to a rotary shaft for supporting a shift lever and transmitting control force to the control cable of an automatic transmission via a transmission means by means of turning motion of the check holder. CONSTITUTION:A shift lever 9 is supported on the vertical wall 5a of a base bracket 5 fixed on the floor panel 3 of an automobile so that it can be freely rocked forward and backward by means of rotary shaft 7, while a check holder 11 is fixed on the rotary shaft 7. A position plate 21 provided with a position cut 19 with which a position pin 17 provided vertical movably in a vertically long hole 13 formed in the shift lever 9 is to be engaged is fixed on the base bracket 5, while a check ball 25 which can be freely engaged with and dis engaged from check part 23 of the position plate 21 is provided on the free end 11a of the check holder 11. Control force is transmitted to the control cable 27 of an automatic transmission via a transmission means 29 by means of turning motion of the check holder 11.
