PURPOSE:To make it possible to deal with a change in set drive voltage due to a change with the passage of time of a recording head and simplify a manufacturing process of recording heads by setting a drive voltage of a recording head based on the result of detection of delivery of ink by means of the recording head, storing said set voltage and conducting recording based on said voltage. CONSTITUTION:When, for example, setting of proper voltage is given to a head 11 for cyan, a power source 21 gradually changes the drive voltage for delivering ink to be fed to the head 11 to transfer record paper accordingly. And ink is delivered from a delivery port and the result of recording reaches an optical reading unit 30 and when the ink having been recorded first is detected, CPU 16 determines drive voltage based on the distance from the head 11 to the unit 30, transfer speed of record paper and the ratio of change of drive voltage. Thereafter, said voltage is multiplied by coefficient to obtain a proper drive voltage Vop, which is stored in RAM 16A, whereby, in usual recording operations, the value Vop read out of RAM 16A is outputted to a D/A converter 17, whereupon power of proper voltage is supplied from the power source 21. |
