<p>A cutting head (13) for a water jet cutting machine has a body (37) supporting a holder (62) carrying an orifice element (63) having an orifice (64). The holder (62) has a cone-shaped surface that fits into a cone-shaped recess in the body (37) to align the orifice (64) with the longitudinal axis (35) of the body (37). An annular member (71) surrounds the holder (62) to seal and retain the holder (62) on the body (37). A collet (93) holds a nozzle (87) having a passage (89) on the body (37). The body (37) has a diverging cone-shaped wall (92) cooperating with tapered surfaces of the collet (93) to align the passage (89) of the nozzle (87) with the longitudinal axis (35). An insert (72) is located in a bore (61) in the body (37) between the holder (62) and nozzle (87). The insert (72) has a chamber (78) aligned with the axis (35) and a passage (79) for allowing abrasive material to be introduced into the stream of water flowing through the chamber (78). <IMAGE></p> |
