PURPOSE:A transparent insulating film, prepared from TiO2, SiO2 and ZrO2 as a composition, and suitable for an insulating film for preventing an alkali ion elution from the bottom substrate, of a liquid crystal cell or an insulating film for separating an electrode layer formed on the substrate from a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION:A film prepared from TiO2-SiO2-ZrO2 oxide obtained by calcining a mixture of an organotitanium compound in which oxygen in directly bonded with an organosilicon compound and an organozirconium compound as a composition. The mixture of the organotitanium compound with the organosilicon compound and the organozirconium compound is dissolved in an organic solvent, e.g. butyl cellosolve, and mixed with a viscous agent, e.g. ethyl cellulose, to 1fford a paste for forming a transparent insulating film. The transparent insulating film is formed by using the resultant paste by the screen printing method. |
