<p>For the purpose of improving the action of the reaction and mixing in extruders, expanders and similar devices, and to increase the energy yield, the so-called stripper fingers (1) which are employed in such apparatuses are provided with flattened regions or cutouts (4'). In addition, the stripper fingers (1) are arranged so as to be rotatable about an angle (alpha) so that the surface of the stripper fingers (1) which is opposite the conveyed product in the helical chamber (12) can be varied. The rotation can be adjusted from outside the casing of the apparatus. The fingers (1) have at least one central bore (6), from which emanate lateral bores (8) in any direction. In addition to a flattened region or cutout (4'), the fingers (1,4) may also have a twisted region (4") in them.
