<p>The section according to the invention is arranged in a such a way as to have advantages comparable to those of a symmetrical laminated I-section, while having the advantages of lightness and cost of folded sheet sections. The section (1) comprises a core (3) and two wings (2, 4) which are symmetrical with each other with respect to a median plane (5). Each wing is formed by a flat flange (6) and two lateral edges (7, 9) having substantially the same height. The first edge has a free end (8), while the other (9) is integral with a connecting part (12, 13) of the core. The two connecting parts (12, 13) are approximately parallel and have a mutual separation (B) equal to that (C) of the free ends. This allows the ends of insulation plates to be fitted between the wings (2, 4) of the section on each side of the latter. Separating rods (35) can be fixed to the edges (7, 9) or to the core.
