METHOD FOR DESULFURIZING GAS CONTAINING SOX

PURPOSE:To absorb SOx in exhaust gas with high absorbing efficiency and to desulfurize the exhaust gas by bringing the exhaust gas into contact with an aq. slurry contg. only manganese oxide. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas contg. SOx is cooled with a gas cooler 1 and fed into an absorption tower 2 as a vapor-liq.-solid phase reactor. The SOx is absorbed in the tower 2 and the resulting desulfurized exhaust gas is exhausted from the top of the tower 2 by a suction blower 3. A slurry of manganese oxide ore filled into a fresh slurry tank 4 is fed into the tower 2 by a feed pump 5 and brought into contact with the gas to absorb the SOx. The slurry contg. the absorbed SOx is drawn out of tbe bottom of the tower 2 and received in a recovered slurry tank 6. The recovered slurry is drawn out by a pump 7 and sent to a stage for purifying manganese sulfate.
