PURPOSE:To obtain a hybridoma capable of producing monoclonal antibody useful as a diagnostic by immunizing a mammal with hCG-beta as immunogen followed by cell fusion. CONSTITUTION:The present invention consists of the following three elements: (1) a hybridoma capable of producing both hCG-beta core region and hCG-beta subunit- recognitive monoclonal antibody, produced by fusion of the antibody-productive cells of a mammal immunized with hCG-beta subunit and lymphocytic cell strain; (2) said monoclonal antibody; and (3) using this monoclonal antibody, substances immunochemically reactive with this monoclonal antibody (e.g. substances containing the beta-core region and/or hCG-beta subunit which can be recognized by this monoclonal antibody, such as beta core itself or hCG-beta, etc.) are detected and determined.
