A mattress base comprising a frame and spring-acting bearing strips (16) is improved with regard to the spring properties in that extensible bands (14) are stretched out in the longitudinal direction between fixed end points, in that the bearing strips (16) are carried by the bands (14), and in that below the bands (14) there are arranged between the bearing strips (16) supports (7) on which the bands (14) lie. The bearing strips (16) are connected to the bands (14) at the crossing points with the aid of wooden pins with spherical heads (17). Especially in the shoulder region of the mattress base, movable transverse strips are provided as supports instead of glued-in supporting bolts (7), which transverse strips lie on a further band extending in a lower-lying plane, fixed bearings being provided for this lower band. <IMAGE> |
