The drive spindle affixed to the backc of a rotor head becomes worn at the end where it is in contact with the spur bearing. When the spindle is pressed outward slightly from the back of the rotor head, the overall length is regained. Pref. the spindle in the machine, is mounted on bearings, and is belt driven. To retain a constant position, the end presses against a spur bearing. After a time, this end bearing surface wears down, reducing the overall length of the spindle plus rotor head. The spindle has a press fit to the back plate of the rotor head so that pressure on --the end will push the spindle dia. along the bore. The face may then be re-ground to -attain the correct overall length after reducing the distance from the end to the back of the rotor interior. - |
