PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by operating intermittently a delay measurement control circuit and a modulator in the steady state in a network terminator. CONSTITUTION:A central unit 14 extends a polling period in the steady state after the end of initial hunting more than the polling period for the initial hunting period implementing repetitively a polling to network terminators NT1, NT2 till the initial delay measuring control is finished. The network terminators NT1, NT2 receiving a notice generate a control signal for a period corresponding to the period receiving a polling addressed to itself from a timer circuit and an incoming signal transmission circuit and the delay measurement control circuit are activated for a period receiving the polling addressed to itself. A control signal is outputted continuously from a timer circuit in the communication state by an outgoing and an incoming call to activate the incoming signal transmission circuit and the delay measurement control circuit continuously. Thus, the network terminator NT is backed up with a battery of a small capacity and even when power failure of a commercial power supply exists, the power to keep the basic talking function is supplied to a terminal equipment 16. |
