CROSS-LINKABLE POLYESTER/ISOCYANATE COMPOSITIONS SUITED FOR THE PREPARATION OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS

1. Crosslinkable polymeric compositions are disclosed, characterized by a low content of vinyl monomers and usable for the fabrication of composite materials of elevated mechanical properties, comprising: A) at least one liquid isocyanate; B) at least one polyol having a functionality not greater than 7 and M.W. comprised between 200 and 10,000; C) at least one vinylester resin or an unsaturated polyester resin; D) at least one initiator of radical polymerization, stable at temperatures below 70.degree.C; E) at least one decomposition promoter of the initiator (D); F) at least one trimerization catalyst of the isocyanate (A); G) possibly one mineral filler having dehydrating properties. 2. A process is provided for preparing composition according to point 1, comprising the addition of a mixture of (B), (C), (E), (F) and optionally (G) to a mixture of the components (A), (D) and possibly (G). 3. The compositions according to point 1 are usable in the preparation of composite materials containing either inorganic or organic fibers preferably by means of lay-up processes.
