PURPOSE:To eliminate an off-track state almost completely even if the heat shock is received after assembly by impressing a heat shock extending a required range to a carriage assembly, and installing it and assembling a disk enclosure. CONSTITUTION:The carriage assembly 20 consists of a carriage body 21 and six arms 25-0-25-5 fixed thereto, and a magnetic head is supported on each arm. When a magnetic disk device is assembled, the heat shock within a temperature range expected in future is impressed to the carriage assembly 20 previously to cause a head position shift forcibly, and then the carriage assembly is installed in the disk enclosure. When the heat shock with a specified value of -30-60 deg.C within the performance gurantee temperature range of the magnetic disk device is applied, the assembly is cooled graudally from a 20 deg.C room temperature to -30 deg.C and held for about four hours, heated gradually up to 60 deg.C and held for about four hours, and then returned to 20 deg.C, thus completing the treatment for 10-12hr in total. |
