PURPOSE:To obtain the reproducing waveforms faithful for recording signals and to lessen the recording left without being erased as well as to improve a recording sensitivity by forming this member in such a manner that the front surface of the recording film in land parts exists upper than the rear surface of the reflecting layer in grooves and exists in a range up to 50nm on the front surface but the rear surface of the recording film in the land parts exists lower than the front surface of the reflecting layer in the groove parts and in the range up to 50nm of the rear surface. CONSTITUTION:The member is so formed that the front surface of the recording film 3 in the land parts exists upper than the rear surface of the reflecting layer 5 in the grooves and exists in the range up to 50nm on the front surface but the rear surface of the recording film 3 in the land parts exists lower than the front surface of the reflecting layer 5 in the groove parts and in the range up to 50nm of the rear surface. The film thicknesses of the respective layers on the side faces are reduced by steepening the inclination of the side faces in contact with the lands and the grooves. The heat generated in the thin film 3 for recording is hardly diffused in this way even if the irradiation with a beam for recording is received. The laser power necessary for recording is decreased and the sensitivity of the recording member is enhanced.
