PURPOSE: To obtain a simple, compact, and low-cost ordinary paper photographic copy system by providing an electrostatic image forming means with a means, which generates ions in an air area, and a means which extracts ions from the air area to form an electrostatic image on an image forming member. CONSTITUTION: The electrostatic image forming means is provided with a means which applies an alternating potential between an excitation electrode and a control electrode separated by a solid-state dielectric member to generate ions in the air area formed by the junction part between the end face of the control electrode and the solid-state dielectric member. It is provided also with a meand which applies a DC voltage between the control electrode and a counter electrode to extract ions from the air area and forms an electrostatic image on the image forming member. Electric discharge in a selected hole and an external ion extraction electric field are simultaneously given to extract ions from the electrode hole at a selected matrix intersection. Thus, a simple, compact, low-cost, and high-speed ordinary paper copy system is obtained. |
