PURPOSE:To facilitate the production of an inference program by selecting the inference control knowledge related to the subject problem among plural these control knowledges and producing an inference program of the problem based on the selected knowledge. CONSTITUTION:An input device 1A is provided together with a display device 1B, an arithmetic processor CPU 2, an auxiliary storage 3 containing an internal memory, and a storage 10 serving as an external memory. The storage 10 includes at least seven storage areas and six of these areas function as the storage means (memories) 4 - 9. Then an inference program of the due problem is produced based on the selected one of those inference control knowledges stored in the memories 4 - 9 that is related to the subject problem. In such a way, the inference program is easily obtained.
