In accordance with the main patent, the device comprises a surface (13) formed by a succession of ribs and grooves of essentially V-shaped profile with smooth inclined lateral surfaces, the height of the said ribs being sufficient, and the said surface being sufficiently hard, to ensure that the projectile (11) is deflected following impact on an inclined lateral surface (14) of a rib. According to a first aspect of the addition, each of the said ribs present on the surface (13) of the structure consists of a succession of pyramids (16) with a polygonal base.
