The present invention is of the field of furnishing for dwellings. t s subject is a fireplace cladding device intended to surround a built-in hearth, mainly characterised in that it consists of four elements, termed angular bodies (1, 1') each element having an overall angle-bracket shape and a hollow U-shaped transverse section formed of two parallel wings (10, 11) and of a web (12) connecting the two wings perpendicularly, (or even in the shape of a U bent at right angles), the four elements (1, 1') being intended to be butted up via their ends (7, 8) in order to form a rectangular surround. <IMAGE>
