X-8087 A method for treating or preventing the onset of Pneumocvstis pneumonia in an immune deficient host which comprises administering a cyclicpeptide of the echinocandin structural type, e.g. echinocandin B and cilofungin, in an effective non-toxic dose. The cyclicpeptide is administered orally, parenterally or by inhalation to achieve enhanced therapy or to prevent the onset of the pneumonia.
