PURPOSE:To obtain the objective compound in pure and colorless state in high efficiency by using a dioxane as a solvent in the production of the subject compound by the catalytic reduction of a dinitrobenzanilide compound with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A diaminobenzanilide compound having low content of impurities such as color components and useful as a raw material for polyimide, polyamide, dye, etc., can be produced in high efficiency by the catalytic reduction of (a) a dinitrbenzanilide compound with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst [preferably (b) a palladium catalyst supported on carbon or (c) a Raney nickel catalyst] and (d) a solvent consisting of dioxanes such as 1,3-dioxane or 1,4-dioxane at 0-200 deg.C under a pressure of 0.1-100kg/cm<2>.G. The amounts of the components (b), (c) and (d) are preferably 0.1-30 pts.wt., 1-20 pts.wt. and 100-3,000 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the component (a), respectively. |
